"'El Reto Final Nissan 2' is an exclusive programming concept that highlights the very favorite sport among Hispanic fans: soccer. Through this reality series, fans can relive glorious moments in the history of soccer by seeing their favorite soccer stars play once again against old rivals," said Jan Thompson, vice president of marketing for Nissan North America. "As we gear up for the second installment of this exciting and bold option in soccer telecasts, we feel that this is a natural fit for Nissan, as a company that promotes excitement and innovation." In 1993, Mexico made its debut at the Copa America Ecuador with a tie score (1-1) against Argentina who was already a well respected team. For the final game, Gabriel Omar Batistuta destroyed the "Mexican dream" by winning the Copa America Ecuador 93' (2-1). The following year, at the Copa America Peru 2004, Argentineans were beaten by Ramon Morales with a 2 -1 score. A year later both teams competed with each other at the Copa Confederacion, where Luciano Figueroa made the only goal during the extra time (110 min.). During the unforgettable World Cup 2006, Maximiliano Rodriguez classified Argentina for the Final Quarters (2-1) against Mexico. The "El Reto Final Nissan 2" series will give them a new chance to decide who will be this year's winner: Mexico or Argentina. The reality series tells the story of the original matches and of the intense competition that characterizes the rivalry through archival footage of the prior games and interviews with players and loyal fans. In five, unscripted episodes players such as Alberto Garcia Aspe, Luis "Zague" Alves, Sergio Goicochea and Alejandro Mancuso, who were part of the national Mexican and Argentinean teams in 1993, will be tracked down, ambushed and persuaded to join their former colleagues. They will also participate in intense training sessions and practices to prepare them for the rematch. George, the dynamic program host who narrated the series' first installment, will once again lead viewers through all the excitement. "We're thrilled to join Nissan once again for the second season of the series," said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Sports en Espanol. "'El Reto Final Nissan 2' is the perfect complement to our year-long, exclusive coverage of the best in Latin American soccer. The reality series and the unique rematch between Argentina and Mexico not only exemplifies our commitment to providing Fox Sports en Espanol's loyal and passionate audience with innovative programming options, but also to continuing to break new ground in branded entertainment programming."
